With advance in technology, a massive number of tech products have been developed and produced. However, not all of them can have ever-lasting survivals. Here are five of shortest-lived tech products.

 

Apple Power Mac G4 Cube (2000-2001)

The $1799 Apple Power Mac G4 Cube, which was announced on July 19, 2000, was described as “The G4 Cube is simply the coolest computer ever” by Steve Jobs at Macworld Expo in New York. The super-sleek Mac desktop computer, however, lived up for just one year till its death on July 3, 2001. This happened due to most customers decided to buy Apple’s powerful Power Mac G4 minitowers instead because of cheaper price. In 2005, Apple unveiled the Cube-like computer called the Mac Mini.

Kerbango Internet Radio (2000-2001)

Kerbango was a $300 radio that worked on either dial-up or broadband and pull in stations from the Net using RealNetworks technology. The concept radio was introduced at the DEMO conference on February 7, 2000. The release of this product was repeatedly delayed.

Sony eVilla (2001)

Sony eVilla was a network entertainment center which was built based on promising but ill-fated BeOS platform. The product made its debut on January 2001 but died on August 30 2001. The company later explained “The product did not meet our expectations . . . It did not operate as planned.” Meanwhile, most customers preferred cheap Windows PCs.

3Com Audrey (2000-2001)

The $499 stylus-driven and dial-up Internet appliance intended for women was made to run on ok, it ran the QNX operating system. The device was announced on October 17, 2000 and described as “an enjoyable Internet experience in the nerve center of the home. In most homes, that’s the kitchen”. The product later died on March 21, 2001.

Google Wave (2009-2010)

Google Wave was opened to the public on 19, 2010. The product was hybrid of e-mail, instant messaging, workgroup collaboration, photo editing, and much more. The device died on August 4, 2010.
