After listening to feedback on the Milestone, Motorola has announced the new Milestone 2 which is all the good things that the original Milestone was and then some. It is a side slider phone running the all new Android 2.2 OS. It is the flag ship phone for Motorola. It has a 3.7 inch 854 x 480 resolution 16 million colours standard TFT capacitive touch screen which doesn't have the same vibrancy as the Samsung Galaxy S phone but wasn't all that bad at first look. It measures 60.5 x 116.3 x 13.7mm and weighs 169g and isn't all that fat with it being a slider and all. At the bottom of the screen you get the standard touch sensitive buttons including the home and back which are reordered and not in the same format as they were in the original Milestone.
Across the body of the phone you find the volume rocker and the standby/ power key and the dedicated camera key. At the core is a 1 GHz processor and you get 8GB of internal storage with the ability to expand using a micro SD card. The processor does not show any signs of lags when used. The menus can be navigated via touch screen seamlessly. At the back is a solid metal back plate with no plastics for giving that premium feel to the device. The Motorola Milestone 2 has a 5 Mega pixel camera with dual LED flash and auto focus.
The camera has HD 720p video recording capability. It also has a stellar media player capable of running all the new audio and video formats including Mp4 and Mp3. The Motorola Milestone 2 has the new Android 2.2 Froyo system which means that it has the most up to date Android OS. The best thing about the Milestone 2 is that it has full Adobe flash player support which will allow it to play web based videos in its web browser. It also has the most talked about widget, Motoblur UI pre-loaded on it. Motoblur allows you to sync all your networking accounts to get updates on your home screen. Motoblur is compatible with all the big networking sites including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. The Motoblur UI has more features for settings. And the best feature of this phone is the slide out QWERTY keyboard both physical and the onscreen one.
The physical QWERTY keyboard is the best in its class with loads of room between keys. The keys feel crisp. The major difference that you get from the original Milestone is the removal of the navigation pad on the right hand side and its replacement with normal cursor direction keys which give more room for the essential back and enter keys. On the connectivity front you get Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA, HSDPA, EDGE Class 10, 236.8 kbps and Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP. It is a Quad band phone which can switch automatically between different bands. It also has a proximity sensor and an accelerometer for auto rotate. You can use your Motorola Milestone 2 as a GPS device with the Google maps feature. All in all it is a very good phone for the high end market.
